Jinx

Hello!

(Please know that I am unable to schedule regular lessons due to deadlines for other work commitments. I typically schedule 1 or 2 weeks in advance.) My name is Jinx, and I am an American traveling abroad. I lived in Cambodia and now reside in the Balkans with my young grandson. I have been a teacher, writer, stage actress, serial entrepreneur, and storyteller in hundreds of schools across the US.. I am the Director of the Living Arts Corporation, a small arts charity that has worked with incredible people worldwide. No one is a stranger, no matter the language they speak. Learning requires work, but I value playfulness as a means to learn anything. I attended the University of Hawaii and the University of Houston, and I hold a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin. I also have a TEFL certificate. With or without formal education, what is important to me is to remain curious and open to the world. My background in theater, arts, and literature can help you learn English with confidence and engagement through words, facial expressions, gestures, and eye contact. What is a conversation, after all? It's how humans communicate ideas, questions, feelings, knowledge, and a profound desire to understand one another. I promise to listen and attend to you as if you are the only person in the world. You deserve it. I have little appetite for competition, accolades, or status. My life has taught me the importance of simply doing what one can to acknowledge others as sincerely and deeply as possible. Spending time in other cultures and forging friendships with young and old alike has deepened my appreciation of life and its challenges. I have used theater and art to appreciate the tiny gifts surrounding me and to create in whatever way I can. We all have an innate courage - and our times ask that we use it.
